The true end

I got a call today from my ex’s fiance. I wasn’t really sure what he wanted and he was hesitant to tell me. I finally told him to just go ahead and say it…and he did.

“Please stop calling J. She’s going to be my wife and she’s not yours any longer. I asked her to handle this but obviously she didn’t. This isn’t personal because I don’t know you very well. But I don’t want you contacting her anymore.”

I said, “Sure, fine. Whatever you want.” and we hung up.

I don’t know how to feel about this…yes, I know she’s not my wife nor would we ever get back together, but we’d remained friends the entire time and now it’s completely over. Sure, part of me is sad about it…I’ve known her for 15 years. The other part wishes her good luck, although I hope this guy isn’t the controlling dickhead that he appears to be. I guess this also means that the dogs are 100% mine, which is fine with me.

I’m just confused by the whole thing, Dear Reader. I guess you really can’t be friends with an ex.

Ummm…well, I guess you can’t if she’s hooked up with a controlling dickhead.

“I asked her to handle this but obviously she didn’t…?”
That just sends the hairs on the back of my neck straight up, it does. Perhaps she didn’t because she didn’t agree with you, dickhead…!

Ew. He shouldn’t feel so threatened by you; that probably means he’s insecure. Sorry that you don’t have your friend anymore. From what you’ve written, it did sound like you still got along with her pretty well.

I’m with Betsy on this one. There’s something seriously wrong going on here. I have a gut feeling she isn’t necessarily in agreeance on this issue.

Ooof – that is so unnecessarily harsh – this guy obviously has some serious control & jealousy issues. I’m so sorry that (at least temporarily) this will mean you’ve lost a friend. Im sure your ex isn’t happy abvout this either otherwise she would have done it herself. Stinky situation and one I’m really sorry you have to deal with.

  5. I say we get a couple cases of Beast, shotgun’em all down and go “talk” it out with him.

Do you think he told her that he called you?

Excellent question, Megabeth. Betcha he didn’t.

It would be one thing if the fiance had a valid reason for you not to speak- you were calling her night and day, vandalizing her car, etc etc… generally being stalkerazzi…

But from your description, it certainly smacks of insecurity on his part. Sad. You handled it well, in spite of the obvious weirdness.
